13 Questions

I think I'm slowly becoming addicted to these tags! I just have so much fun doing them! But anyway, I found this one via the amazing Fleur de Force, who also has a very popular beauty blog. I am a huge fan of both her You Tube channels (click here for her main channel, and here for her vlog channel) and also her blog (click here to view it!). I have changed question 7 to blogging, instead of You Tube. So without further ado, let's get going!

1. What do you order at Starbucks?
A tall caramel frapuccino or a coffee frapuccino.
2. What's one thing in your closet that you cannot live without?
Ooh, tricky... I would have to say that at the moment, my favourite item to wear is my denim high-waisted shorts from H&M. They go with literally every look possible and are suitable for all year round.
3. What's one thing that most people probably wouldn't know about you?
I assume that you don't know a lot about me, but I am going to say that I am 5"6 (but only just!)
4. Name one thing that you want to do before you die.
I know this answer is a common, but it would have to be to get married and have children.
5. What's one food that you cannot live without?
6. What quote/phrase do you live your life by?
Well, I have got a couple:
The Golden Rule, which is to do to others, as you would do to yourself.
"If you can't see the bright side of life, polish the dull side"
"Logic can get you from A to B. Imagination can take you everywhere" -Albert Einstein
7. What do you like and dislike about the blogging community?
I like that it is somewhere that myself and other people can share a common interest and it is always a useful place to learn from each other and gain inspiration. The people I know aren't as obssessed as I am when it comes to fashion and beauty, so blogging is a great outlet for all the things I want to say. I haven't found anything I dislike really, but perhaps I would have to say the occasional nasty comments that people sometimes receive. Though 99% of the time, it's all good!
8. What's your number one most listened to song on iTunes?
Katy Perry 'Teenage Dream'. 432, is a slightly worrying total!
9. What kind of style would you define yourself as having?
This is a tricky question for me to answer, because I really don't know! I love a bit of everything: girly, boho, rocker, preppy and the list goes on! It's quite difficult to define the way I dress in a word!
10. Favorite number?
9.  It is not lucky to me, it's not unlucky, but I do have my reasons for liking. First, the first letter of my name, 'I', is the 9th letter of the alphabet, I was born on the 19th (I know 19 isn't the same as 9, but oh well) and when I imagine each number, the number nine is always pink, and pink is one of my favourite colours.
11. Two hobbies
Shopping and watching TV- it may sound quite sad, but they're two things that I love to do!
12. Two pet peeves
The squeaky noise when someone's teeth rub against an apple, people that wear fake tan and people licking their fingers.
13. Guilty Pleasures
Watching Neighbours, Doctor Who, The Only Way is Essex and Made in Chelsea. Also making icing, and eating it (very bad for my health, I know). Oh, and playing Mario Kart!

As always, I'd love to hear your responses, so either put them in the comments below or leave a link to your blog post or video!

14 Ways to Brighten Up Your Room

Lately, I have been slowly, but surely giving my room a bit of a 'revamp'. Whilst doing this, I have come across a few techniques that are sure to brighten up your room, but also they are very cost effective, which is always a great added bonus!

1. Flowers

Nothing makes a room prettier, then a gorgeous bouquet of flowers. Of course nothing beats the real thing, but it can become expensive when you constantly need to re-purchase them or you could easily forget to water your plant, which also isn't good! So it is far easier to spend a couple of pounds on some quite realistic looking flowers that are no trouble to maintain! The flowers in the bottom picture were heavier than the vase itself, so I simply poured in bath salts into the vase to weigh it down, and it was fine! If you are looking for a vase, there is no shortage of low costing ones in charity shops, supermarkets and at car boot sales.

2. Get Organised!
Clutter never looks good in a room, so not only will these storage systems tidy up your room, but also make it easier to find things. In the cupcake jar, I like to keep my Lush soaps, in the cat, I place loose coins, in the flowery box there are my hairbands and in the small cork box, bobby pins and hair clips. It makes life just that little bit easier! The icing on the cake is that each one is adorable and would look very pretty on a dresser. The two boxes come in dazzling patterns and inside them, you can store what you wish- CDs, makeup, pens and the list goes on. And of course, you can find these sort of storage solutions at low low prices!

3. Put your prettiest products on display!

Beauty companies very often encase their products in beautiful packaging, and they certainly shouldn't be hidden in a closet! So put them on display! Especially, I love to put my perfume bottles out! Alternatively, it is a nice idea to put your nail polishes on show, to povide a hint of colour; I like to put mine in rainbow order, so it makes everything easier to find. Now I can't go without mentioning jewellery. It is undeniably dazzling to look at and would look perfect on display, either draped over something or in a pretty bowl.

4. Photos, Magazine Cuttings and Collages
My old wardrobe looked a bit dismal to say the least, so to spruce things up, I flicked through my Teen Vogue magazines and cut out my favourite images- creative adverts I liked, fun images or outfits that I adored. I also chucked in some snaps I took when I went to France, my Paris pics especially and some images of me and my friends (my friends aren't Ashley Tisdale and Florence from Florence & the Machine!). I just used a bit of Blu-tak, et voila! I really loved the end result and it cost peanuts to do. You can really create some fantastic pieces of artwork. Alternatively, you can pin some pictures to a cork board, or of course put your favourite photos into some pretty frames.

5. Showcase your Books and Magazines

On the cover of magazines are some stunning shots, they always have a dash of colour and the glossy front covers will look ravishing in your room. And of course, I can't go without saying the classic, cosy vibe that can be given to your room when you have some books lying around! They look especially nice on bookshelves, mantle pieces, window sells, desks, and table tops. You can also find cute book holding accessories as a little bonus to your room!

6. Accessorize!
It goes without saying that accessories scattered around your room will make it more lively. In my room some little items I have are precious stones, a Russian doll, little animals, but you could also have candles, mini statues, bird cages- the list goes on. There are countless shops that stock these things for very affordable prices.

7. Cushions
So this idea is no secret, but it doesn't mean it's any less effective. Cushions are a way to add in different textures and colours into your room in a subtle way.

8. Make your room smell nice!

It's not necessary, but it always makes the room more pleasant to have it smelling nice. Ways to do this are to have your bathbombs out (I love my Lush ones), you can have a bowl of pot purri (sorry if I didn't spell that correctly), scented candles are scrumptious, room spray is also quite effective, and finally flowers!

9. Spruce up your wallls!
When your walls are looking a bit dull and plain, then a bit of artwork can do wonders. The downside however is that it can be quite expensive, but I have a solution! In places such as Paperchase, for about £2, you can buy A2 sheets of quite thick wrapping paper in beautiful prints. Add a bit of Blu-tak and you have yourself a lovely looking wall. You can also use the free wallpaper samples you get in stores such as B&Q and Homebase. You could just cut them to size and stick them to your wall, or wrap them around a plain canvas or pop them in a frame. Simple!

10. Decorate handles
This is a nice little idea when door knobs on doors, draws and cupboards a looking a bit plain. All you have to do it tie a bit of ribbon around them and put it in a bow! As an extra little feature, thread on some beads onto your piece of ribbon just to add a bit of glam.

11. Clocks!
Plain plastic alarm clocks aren't always pleasant to the eye, so there is no harm in getting a nicer looking clock that will look a lot better in your room!

12. Door Hooks
Little plactic hooks on your door aren't exactly attractive, but luckily there are plenty available in gorgeous designs with even more hooks so that you can hang whatever you desire. I got my one in the picture for a bargain £5!

13. Table Cloths
When your table is tarnished and looking a bit battered, then there is no need to buy a new table; just get a pretty table cloth. Problem solved, and they're not too pricey!

14. Display bowls
To stop so much clutter filling up your room, one thing I love to put stuff in are these pretty bowls. For a couple of pounds, you can easily find these in charity shops and at car boot sales. They're stylish, cheap and neaten things up- what more could you want?

Anyway, I hope this was useful!

Everyone else seems to have done this, so I'd thought I'd tag along and join in with the fun! I also think that it is intriuging to see what other people value as their makeup favourites.

Fashion Haul!

It's the summer holidays, and I have been in the shopping mood, hence why I have a few items that I am very excited to share with you! All the items but one (the ring) are on sale at the moment. For a lot of these items, I have adored them, but I was strong repelled by the prices so I was very excited to see them on the sale rack!

So the first item and the only non-sale item is this ring, that I got for the pretty reasonable price of £2.99. At the moment, I have got really into vintage/costume jewellery which consists of gorgeous chunky jewels. Ths ring from New Look, fitted the brief for me. I've got to admit though that I wasn't too crazy about the tiny pearls, but I still do really like the ring.

For a while, I've been looking for a pair of brogues. They are what you'd deem as a 'classic' piece of footwear. Primark had for a while always had instock some variation of brogues, but none of them really hit the spot with me. So when I saw this pair on sale for £8, I was very excited. The cut out detailing provides this pair of shoes with a modern touch, yet it still keeps them 'traditional'. This might seem a little random, but I also like the clicky noise the shoes make when I walk!

Crisp white tops are a timeless item and I thought the buttons and cut-out lace detailing on this cami from New Look was the cherry on top. I bagged this garment of clothing for the appealing price of £5. Originally, this top would have cost somewhere around the £18 mark (can't remember exactly) so I'd I got a pretty good deal! I don't think I would have paid that much otherwise!

I've always had a bit of an obssession with fruit-related things, so this banana necklace from Topshop was a must have! It was originally £8.50, reduced by 50% to £4.25 (the price I payed), but the next day it was £3.50. Yes, I was slightly annoyed, but I still think it is adorable and a funky feature to an outfit. Topshop jewellery sales are definitely something I recommend that you go check out; dazzling jewellery with Primark prices!

Out of the purchases that I have featured in this blog post, I'm going to say that this bag is my favourite. When I first saw this bag in New Look, I instantly took a liking to it. The hefty price however of £30 effectively drove me away. I was delighted to say the least when I saw it was in the sale at £15. I'll admit, I still wasn't completely content with the price, but the bag was too marvelous to turn down. The bag itself I'd say is inspired by the 'Alexa' bag by Mulberry but a slightly different take on it, but it is covered with crotchted (I think I may have just butchered the spelling of that word) detailing. It is so feminine, romantic and completely wearable. There is a way to carry it to suit anyone: you can grab the small handle with your hand, put your hand through the small handle, sling the long strap over your shoulder or even adjust the strap to put it on your shoulder across your body.

This next buy is from good old Primark! Even though items are always cheap, I can't help but feel reluctant with buying a £10 + item. Therefore, I was excited to check out the sale, and there I had spotted a stars and stripes cotton jumper that I have had my eye on for quite a while. Originally £10, it was reduced to £5 so of course, I picked it up! I know I have already used the word in this blog post, but I can't help but use it again; the jumper is adorable!

This bag first caught my attention when ThePersianbabe expressed her love of the bag in her videos. To me it looked sleek, stylish and simple, but I felt that I didn't need another bag because I already had got a few lately. However, when strolling through Primark, I noticed it was on sale! It was £5 reduced down to £2, so I just had to get it! Although at the moment I'm mostly using the bag I got from New Look, I think this bag will be ideal for when I only need a couple of items. Despite the ridiculously low price, I will admit that I'm feeling a tad bit guilty, for having a little to many bags!

Finally, I popped into H&M and I found a selection of dresses, the same style but different prints. These were all £7.99 reduced down to £3! So of course I went to try a few of these on to see if the style would suit me. I tried it on, and frankly, the dress was quite structureless (I'm hoping that's a word) and looked quite 'frumpy'. But then I put my hands on my waste and realised that the dress actually looked really nice clenched in around the waste. So I like to use a brown fake leather belt, as you can see in the picture. Side by side, you can see what a difference it can make.

Ok, so the photo doesn't really do it justice, but I promise you that in real life it looks good!

Perfume Review: 'Rose the One' by Dolce & Gabbana

Recently, I got my paws on this bottle of perfume. So there is no better way to explain this perfume to you, then provide you with a description of the different notes.

"Dolce & Gabbana gives its smoulderingly sensual The One scent a rose twist. Destined to become a floral classic, the completely feminine yet effortlessly sexy signature is perfectly captured in Scarlett Johansson, the face of the fragrance.- Top notes: pink grapefruit, mandarin and cassis;- Middle notes: Bulgarian rose, peony, lily and lychee;- Base notes: vanilla, musk and amber."

I don't really have much more to say because this mini paragraph is pretty accurate. The top note is a sweet, refreshing and fruity-like quite a summery scent. But then, it develops into something far more floral, the most noticeable flower you can detect is the Bulgarian rose which is delicate and feminine yet not too over-powering. In the base note, you can still detect the lightest hint of floral, but mostly, you can smell the sweet vanilla, musk and amber.

The fragance does last for sometime on your skin, however, I do think it is difficult for someone else to smell it on you after a while, unless they are very close. The packaging is minimalistic and sleek. Of course I am always more in favour of fun, over-the-top bottles (think Marc Jacob's fragrances!), but I think that the bottle suits the fragrance. It is a classic scent, so perhaps something to quirky would not coincide with the theme.

All of this aside, I really do love the fragrance and I highly recommend for you to go and smell it for yourselves!

Nails of the Week: Barry M's 'Pure Turqoise'

I thought that it might be a nice idea to do 'Nails of the Week'. It's exactly what it says in the title; simply, I will post the nail polish I have on. Obviously, I won't post the same nail polish looks twice. These won't be every single week, but they'll pop up every now and again :)

So to start it off, my chosen nail polish for this week is Barry M's 'Pure Turqoise' 295. I believe that Barry M no longer produce this is exact same nail polish, but they do have 'Turqoise' 295, which is only slightly paler. Other similar colours include Rimmel's 60 Second nail polish in 'Sky High', Essie's 'Turqoise and Caicos', China Glaze's 'Flyin' High'.

Turqoise is such a beautiful colour, and because it is so bright, I find it goes with a wide array of outfits, for that reason that it stands out so much.

Lots of Love,

Just a Quick Ramble...

So to you lovely people that tune into my blog (I'm guessing that's no one), I know I haven't done a blog post in a little while, but I have written up a few blog posts that will be coming soon, I promise! All I need to do is to take some pictures, which I will be doing today, and then you'll be seing few blog posts over the next couple of days. Once I've done that, I'd love to hear what blog posts that you want to see. I am strongly considering to do a 10 things (or however many ideas I can come up with) to brighen up your romm. I've already got quite a few methods that are also VERY wallet friendly!

Anyway, I best get going if I want to get these next few blogs posts done. Expect a fashion haul, nails of the week, a perfume review and an insight into my makeup bag (well, if you are curious, otherwise it might be quite dull!). Bye! xxx
